To mark St. Brigid's month and International Women's Day, the Consulate General of Ireland, New York invites you to a America250 seanchaí (storytelling) night, bringing together community members and historians to share historical and personal stories of Irish and Irish American women, and the ways they helped to shape the city, region and country around us. The programme will highlight voices and experiences that are often overlooked, while reflecting on the lasting impact of Irish women across generations.
Individuals can submit a story to be considered for sharing as part of the live programme on February 24th. Some stories will also be selected for inclusion in a lasting digital collection on Ireland.ie, which will highlight the experiences and contributions of Irish and Irish-American women across the United States as part of the America250 Commemoration. If you are interested in contributing to this event, please submit your story for consideration at seanchoiche.com/tellyourstory.
Stories may be historical, or personal, and can reflect on the women who shaped your family, community, or country more broadly. Stories can be anything from a personal anecdote, a piece of prose, an essay or a monologue. Participants will have a maximum of 10 minutes per story.
We hope to see you for an evening of stories, conversations and reflections.
