As part of International Week of Deaf People, Seanchoíche (pronounced Shanna-Key-Huh), our storytelling night, is coming back for the second time to DUBLIN in September, on September 26th, for a very special night in collaboration with the Irish Deaf Society.

We're bringing people together for a night of stories, connection, and community, and this one is close to our heart. As one of the Irish Deaf Society's main events during International Week of Deaf People, our focus is on making sure the night is fully accessible and Deaf-friendly from start to finish.

Every story will be told in Irish Sign Language (ISL) or interpreted into ISL, so whether you're Deaf, hard of hearing, or hearing, you'll be able to share in every moment. Seanchoíche has always been about the simple magic of people telling their stories, and this time we get to do it in a way that welcomes everyone into the room.

These stories can range from personal anecdotes, to spoken word, fictional narratives, and anything in between as long as what is spoken constitutes a story.

We will have arranged storytellers on the night, but if you get the urge to stand up and tell a story when you're at the event on the night, you are welcome to do so. Storytellers can contact submissions@seanchoiche.com to let us know they are volunteering prior to the event.

Founded in Dublin, Seanchoíche has grown into a global storytelling movement, bringing people together through the simple yet powerful act of sharing stories. Each event centres around a theme, creating an evening where strangers become friends and ordinary moments become unforgettable.

For this special gathering, the theme is Time.

Time touches every story we tell. It shapes our memories, marks our milestones, and changes the way we see the world around us.

From childhood recollections and family histories to life-changing moments, missed opportunities, second chances and unexpected encounters, this evening invites storytellers to reflect on the moments that have defined them.
